Apple has permanent employees, correctly paid, to fix bugs in drivers while not waiting for the "software department" of the hardware manufacturers to fix them. So the whole discussion about "INTEL NICs are better than Realtek NICs (meaning on Linux, on BSD, anything other than Windows)(***)(****) is viewed through a strange kadeiloscopic tube while the real issue is the delay to get decent drivers on non-Windows OSes.

The hardware manufacturers (including INTEL and AMD)(*) will first make and maintain the Windows drivers and associated firmware, otherwise Microsoft will kick their asses.
